Strategies for Craps

Attempting to better the casino while playing craps many a player has studied the play in depth seeking to design such a technique.  Yet no participant (or other person) has yet to develop a significant method that will provide them the necessary advantage.  There are two major obstacles blocking any attempt to devise a successful method:

• Craps is unstructured: You don’t know the length of time the shooter will play, her/his turn can last one roll or can go on for ten, twenty or maybe even additional rolls.
• Craps games are random: Every roll of the dice is separate from the last roll, different from a game like Blackjack where you know what cards that have been discarded and will be retired until the decks are reshuffled.
• Due to the lack of a winning approach the only thing a player can do is adopt a strategy they hope will be successful for the short run (the house always wins in the long term) and get pleasure from playing the game.
• Have reasonable expectations of what you can achieve in one outing.  Everybody would like to break the bank but it is not probably going to to come to pass, so be satisfied if you come out ahead on any given outing.
• Determine your limits before you start playing.  For an example; should you hold $100 in your bankroll, resolve ahead of time to call it a day when your funds go down to say $50 or when it goes up to say $500.
• Until such times as you have increased you bankroll, be conservative with your betting (pass line bets with odds are your best bets because they have the lowest casino edge).  Assuming you win and grow your funds then you can make a decision if you wish to take on a more aggressive wagering approach.
• Learn the wagers.  Discover all of the bets available to a player, the way you make the bet and what the probability of you being successful are.  Knowing this will allow smart wagering in the event you wish to finish making conservative wagers and attempt a handful of new risky bets.
